...I heard a neigh. Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was! My very heart leaped with delight at the sound. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Horse Training and Conditioning

Training and conditioning for your horse:

At EquiPro we are proud to provide the quality of training that turns the right every day riding horses into well conditioned, well balanced, professional athletes. At EquiPro we believe this is done by very precise and scientific workouts, feeding plans and also blood chemistry of our top athlete horses. Our champion horses are not made over night, it takes months maybe years to get a horse to its full potential (100 mile international champion) so you have to have patience. But having patients and not jump starting your horse will allow the horse to develop the correct muscles, joints, bone density, tendon strength, and heart rate recovery (only to mention a few things). If a horse has not had enough "build up time" the horse is probably going to have a much shorter career than a horse that is build up properly. By doing this you should be able to ride your horse(s) in races well into their twenties.

Pricing will vary depending on where your horse is at in his/her career. The reason for this is that it takes less time in the saddle to condition a horse for 25 mile rides than it does 100 mile rides. I will not condition a horse for a 75 or 100 mile ride unless it has already been trained and competed for 50’s. If there are any behavioral issues with your horse these will be addressed as well but may take time away from Endurance Training.

I believe firmly that in order for all horses to be good trail/endurance horse, manners matter. I do not require them to be perfect but if they are “all go and no whoa!” then I will address those issues first. I accept horses that (1) require just manners training, (2) just need to be re-started (meaning they have been out to pasture for a while but have been ridden before) or (3) horses that are under saddle and are ready to be conditioned for fitness or a career. I do not accept horses that are not broke to ride.

If your horse is in training you are more than welcome to come out and "tag along" on the training ride (case by case basis). The reason for this is that the owners can be as much of the problem when it comes to the manners of the horse. If this is the case you will be taught how you too can help better your relationship with your horse. I encourage owners to be involved with the training of the horse as it will only help your bond with your horse and make our job easier.

We live on site so there is always someone watching over your horse. Horses are not kept in stalls, we believe in turning horses out 24/7so that they can stretch and self exercise at all times. Our facility is set up to optimize your horse's full potential.
